Lightbeam for Firefox – formerly Collusion – was launched today and with the new add-on comes a beaming new logo. Currently exploring the idea of reserving distinct shape systems throughout projects/products at Mozilla, we decided on a diamond shape for privacy/security properties. Having the angular shape allowed us to use the idea of beams of light bouncing off one of the edges as if hitting a mirror, forming a distinct “L” shape at the same time. The colors were used directly from the Firefox logo globe to add a visual nod to the browser and the gradient acts as a glow from the point of contact. Along with the full color logo, there is also a distinct one-color glyph version as well. Nice and clean.
Hope you like! Enjoy!
