The same thing happend to me today. I left the Xbox logged in to finish a large download, but the TV input was switched to view our Media Center PC. My wife was using our media center remote to watch recorded TV, and apparently the "ok" button is the same as the green "A" button on the xbox controller. Without any confirmation, the new monkey game that appeared on the Spotlight window was purchaced and started downloading. When I switched over to the XBox, I found the download was 80% complete. I spent over 1 hour on the phone with a supervisor at Microsoft. He understood what happened, but refused to refund the 800 points that was deducted from my account.
My only recourse is to dispute the charge for the points purchase with American Express.

Same thing happened to me! It's so frustrating and when I called to argue about it they wouldn't listen to me and give me my money back.

And the followup to the dog's spending spree story? Microsoft refunded the owner's money, sent him an extra controller, and gave the dog an Xbox Live subscription (Gamertag Oscar The K9). Because Fox News caught whiff of it and did a cute little story on it. Feel gypped? Heh, I think you have blackmail for customer support.

Just came across this and remembered your tweet and link to this post. If a dog can accidentally buy stuff, maybe they need to rethink their interface design?
